He was given the No. 6 jersey that had previously been worn by his mentor Xavi on the same day the news broke.

International Career

Gavi’s Spanish national team player career began when he was just 15. On July 30th, manager Luis Enrique called him to the senior Spain national team.

On October 6th, he became the youngest player in Spain’s history to make his senior team debut in a 1-0 win against Italy in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

On October 10th, during the final match versus France, Spain lost by a score of 2-1. He made history on June 5th, 2022, when he scored his first goal for Spain’s senior team at 15 in a Nations League match against the Czech Republic.
